All Blacks vs France final RWC

Sunday the 23rd of October 2011 was known as a very BIG day for the All Blacks and France. Over 60 000 people traveled to Eden Park to support the All Blacks and France teams as they compete for the Webb Ellis Cup.

I could feel a heap of butterflies flying in my stomach as the All Blacks and France rugby teams marched proudly onto the rugby field competing for the Webb Ellis Cup. Before they start the tournament the choir group sang the France national anthem and then the New Zealand national anthem. As the camera drifted past every single member in the All Blacks and France teams you could see the determination in their face as they sang their anthem.

All Blacks got into their position to perform the haka. Piri Weepu leaded the haka and the way the boys were translating the actions I new this was going to be a tense game. But France didn't let them perform the haka without a come back. France lined up into the letter "V" for victory then they walked closer and closer to the All Blacks and walked over the 5 meter mark (which they have been fined for). Then it was time to play.

The All Blacks kicked off first. It was around 50 minutes into the game with both teams on zero points, then finally Tony Woodcock scores an opening try and got some points on the board for the All Blacks. Piri Weepu did the honors of kicking the first conversion of the game but unfortunately missed. The scores are now 5 to the All Blacks and 0 to France. Before half time the France team gave away alot of penalty kicks to the All Blacks that Piri Weepu unfortunately missed again.

At half time the scores were still 5-0 but not for long as the France team captain Therry Dusautoir scored an awesome deserving try for France. They got the conversion kick in and are now in the lead by 2 points. The All Blacks could feel the crowd going wild and put alot of nerves on the France team and once again the France team gave us another penalty kick. It was all on Steven Donald that has only been on the field for 46 minutes and has been playing terrifically. Steven Donald goes for the kick and gets it in. There’s 5 minutes until the game is over and the crowd is going WILD!!.

The game is finally over and miraculously the All Blacks have won by just one point. Everyone is cheering, crying, hugging and praying. But not the France team and supporters as they have lost by just one point. Now it is time for the honors for the France team who have awarded the silver medal. Next the All Blacks were awarded with the gold medal then John Key (prime minister) gave the Webb Ellis Cup to Richie McCaw. All the boys sprayed their champagne everywhere. The wonderful news spread across New Zealand within a minute and the next day they had a parade.

After a year of tragedy, lives lost in Christchurch's devastating earthquakes and in the mine at Pike River, the All Blacks have given New Zealanders cause to celebrate. This has been the best eighty minutes of nail bitting of my life.

Testing Week

How do I feel about testing:
Well I like maths, writing and reading but when it comes to tests I feel pressured and nervous because sometimes I feel like I wont be up to standard and fail my test. However once I've finished the test I feel confident about my answers.

How will my test help me with my focus for this term "TO BE OR NOT TO BE"
The test will help me by teaching me new things and I think it will be good to assess myself because it will show me my grades and how I can improve later on.

Special Assembly

At promptly 9:00 on Friday the 23rd of September the school assembled in the hall for a special assembly. There were three talented groups that were going to perform. They were the Choir, Bollywood group and the Tongan Trip group. The Tongan Group were leaving the following day to Tonga.

The first item was from the Bollywood group. The Bollywood girls were wearing a red and gold dress with a fluffy red fan. The boys wore black t-shirts and pants with a sparkly red hat. The Bollywood group was awesome.

Up next was the Choir. When we heard the que we stood up and sang from our hearts. We sang a traditional Niuean song called “ Sipaio ”. We all sang beautifully then we sat down to enjoy the next performance.

The next item was the Tongan group. They were welcomed onto the stage with a BIG cheer. First the girls did a graceful slow Tongan dance. Then the boys did a fast Cook Island dance, a while through the performance the girls joined in and did the Hula.
The final performance was from the choir again. We cheered up the crowd by singing “Bring it all back”. To end the assembly the whole school sang “We are the world” by Michael Jackson.

Friday was a brilliant day and WHAT a talented school!

3 facts about rugby

 1. Did you know that 20 countries from around the world are participating the Rugby World Cup.

2. A "try" is so-called because the act of running over the line and touching the ball down originally carried no points and merely allowed the team to try for a kick at the goal.

3. Rugby balls are shaped the way they are because the original balls, made by a cobbler near Rugby School, were fashioned from pigs' bladders.
